Redesign of Existing Law Practice Database using Laravel. Office Integration essential MacOs - Upwork

Apibūdinimas: A law firm currently uses practice management software which was custom made using symphony 1.4. It was created back in 2011. It now needs to be rebuilt as it is lacking some functionality and is slowing down. There will be ongoing maintenance work following the rebuild.


The rebuild will require migrating everything (data, functionality), and a new design concept into a new framework, we are thinking using Laravel potentially?


We want to add Microsoft integration both, word and outlook are a must, also some form of PDF integration is important that allows for marking up documents and saving to the database.


There is an online custom diary page that lists all court matters. The practice revolves around this online diary.


Presently we can;

- Create files with all the information we need,

- Automatically populate some precedent letters, ie invoices, outcome letters, cost agreements and enter court dates,

- We have different levels of permissions

- We can track employee earnings.

-       Create file notes, phone messages

-      View all up and coming matters on our online diary page.


We do not presently have email integration, or word integration, calendar integration or large file integration and ability to view in browser in PDF, it is a little cumbersome in that regard.


What we are not effectively trying to create is fully electronic file.


We would like to incorporate outlook and word via an API that has two-way communication, optimised for Office running on MacOS

  

If I had to sum up functionality, it is


Existing functionality:


1. Ability to start file where a whole lot of data is imputed relevant to our industry

a. Client details

b. Client charges

c. Client court dates

2. Ability to add contacts, barristers, Court contacts, Client details.

3. Ability to create invoices  

4. Ability to assign and create tasks

5. Ability to track earnings and view all court matters in the practice


New required features


1. Ability to drop large documents ie some form of drag and drop feature for large PDF Docs etc that can be shared easily.

2. Redesign of the dashboard

3. A timer feature, which would be added functionality, just something that starts timing when every you are in an electronic file which can later be added to an invoice.

4. Ability to import precedents into a word document and amend the document and save it back into the database

5. Ability to access the database from outlook, or using word, so some form of two-way API functionality with office.

6. Basically, redesigning the interface on the home screen to include

a. Email button, that opens in outlook but attached to the electronic file.

b. File note/Memo button

c. Text Message Feature.


Basically taking everything that works well, adding features and putting them on a faster more stable platform with a redesign of the home screen. The project might take 3-6 months.
